Where does the name Bogee and Moose come from?
The title of our company is actually named off our dogs; Bogee and Moose. Bogee, a golden retriever was as loyal a friend anyone could have asked for–a member of Leonard's family. Bogee passed away as all dogs do in 2016, just as our business was in its infancy. Moose, like Bogee, is named after founding member Matthew's Chocolate Labrador Retriever. At the time of this writing, Moose is alive and well, providing the much needed company that canine companions provide during the working week. We decided on our company name as an homage to our dear pets, providing a sense of escapism through our music.
Our compositions stem from ideas that we have. We like to keep it ideas simple and straightforward while at the same time maximizing what can come from each ensemble medium. Music does not have to conform to a particular style, nor does it have to adhere to a universal standard. We believe that students and musicians connect best with music that is original and inspired. Our goal is to give musicians of all ages a chance to perform these ideas.
Have experience composing orchestral/Jazz/Percussive/wind/chamber/marching music? We welcome the work of many composers for distribution on our platform. If you would like your original work to be sold through Bogee and Moose, feel free to contact us. We understand selling through larger companies is taxing and pretty challenging, and that they may be interested in a "certain sound". Artistry should always come before the profit.
